Hello Reader,
I have been reading a couple of really good books recently. Ones that make me unbelievably happy and that got me to thinking about books that make me unhappy and so I do not finish (DNF) them.
What Makes you DNF?
I started a book once that I enjoyed the premise of, the setting was cool and the side characters were awesome. But oooooh my gosh, the main character was really nasty. They were rude, arrogant and not at all redeemable.
The thing is, I can happily read about killers, stupid people, or even vapid narcissists without putting the book down if they have at least one redeeming quality.
Let’s say there is a vapid narcissist but she rescues an abandoned puppy. Well, then I can get behind her character arc. Or a killer for hire who is having a moral struggle with killing someone she has been paid to kill.
But main characters who are self absorbed, rude, or mean are a no go for me and I will stop reading the book.
What’s something that makes you stop reading?
