Hello Reader,
There is a joke that book clubs are more about drinking wine and chatting than about reading the book. And, while I have no doubt that is often true, it’s not always true.
Although the social element is undeniable because being part of a book club can offer a social connection to folks who enjoy similar types of books. Being part of a group like this makes one feel less alone and makes reading an event rather than a solo pursuit.
Finding a good book club has a number of benefits that we don’t even think of, for example, it can provide motivation to keep reading during slumps. It adds routine to your week or month, knowing that you have a book club coming up.
And it can help you look at books from different perspectives and then express your thoughts and feelings about it.
If all of that wasn’t cool enough, then book clubs often support local libraries and bookstores which is also pretty neat.
I am curious though, are you part of a book club? And if so, what do you like most about it?
